What does it mean to “drink from our own wells” in evaluation?
ONLINE
The call for African evaluators to “drink from their own wells” invites us to consider what indigenising evaluation practice means in substance, not only in principle. Taking heritage as its central image, this webinar explores the knowledge, values, languages, practices and intellectual traditions from which an Africa-rooted evaluation practice can draw. Made in Africa Evaluation advocates for evaluation grounded in African epistemologies, values and governance systems. The webinar asks what evaluators might see, value and do differently when African heritage is treated as a living source of knowledge. The discussion will also recognise that heritage is diverse and contested. It is to consider how Africa-rooted approaches can become credible, inclusive and sustainable parts of evaluation practice.
