Join the conversation : Launching the new AI good practice guidance for evaluators
Artificial intelligence offers significant opportunities to enhance evaluation practice throughout the evaluation lifecycle, but the evaluation profession's credibility depends on maintaining rigorous standards of evidence, transparency, and accountability that serve decision-makers and communities effectively.
Join us as we launch AI in Evaluation : Good Practice Guidelines for Practitioners. These voluntary principles aim to provide a framework to guide evaluators in harnessing AI's transformative potential whilst upholding the professional standards that underpin public trust in evaluative evidence.
The guidance emerged from a working group spanning government, development, private sector, and academic evaluation practice. It reflects real implementation challenges rather than theoretical frameworks.
What's different about this guidance :
- Shows how principles scale across different risk profiles
- Includes explicit "do not proceed" scenarios
- Provides a practical six-question checklist for evaluators
- Acknowledges known limitations and unresolved questions up front
Join the live launch to:
- See the decision logic applied to three distinct scenarios
- Discuss technical literacy requirements for evaluators
- Explore validation challenges in different evaluation contexts
- Contribute to shaping companion resources
- Gain early access to the guidance
The guidance is deliberately foundational - it establishes principles while acknowledging that procurement frameworks, quality assurance approaches, and capability requirements are still developing.
If you are an evaluation practitioner using or considering the use of AI tools in your evaluation work, regardless of your organisational context, join us as we launch the guidance. We welcome individual consultants, small NGOs, large charities, central and local government departments, public sector organisations of all sizes, academic institutions, and private sector evaluators.
