Over 25 years post-PhD experience in about 30 countries, covering most regions of the world, dedicated to improving the livelihoods, food security and environment of those living in rural areas. For the last 20 years I have been identifying, designing, planning, and providing technical backstopping and managerial leadership to, donor-funded (including Global Environment Facility, AusAID, European Union, ACIAR) international multi-country projects in broad, dynamic and challenging areas of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, sustainable agriculture and rural development. This includes monitoring and evaluation and alignment with environment and social safeguards. Currently, I coordinate the global GEF/UNEP/FAO Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition Project for the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. I also hold visiting and adjunct teaching and research posts at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), the University of the Sunshine Coast and Griffith University, Australia.
