Arwa Khalid is an Evaluation Officer with the Office of Evaluation (OED) at FAO. She leads thematic, country, and project evaluations, contributing to evidence-based decision-making across FAO’s work. Arwa has over 15 years of experience in managing, monitoring, and evaluating humanitarian, resilience, and development programmes, with a focus on agricultural systems, livelihoods, and food security.

Her background is in animal health and agricultural knowledge systems and policy, holding a master’s degree from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Before joining FAO, Arwa worked as an Extension Officer with GIZ, supporting collaboration between programme management, local governments, and farmers’ groups to improve livestock sector.

Arwa’s approach to evaluation is shaped by her field experience and commitment to inclusive development. She is passionate about fostering learning and ensuring that evaluations contribute to practical improvements in agricultural and rural development programmes.

My contributions

  • Rome’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters pulsed with energy this October when the 2025 World Food Forum (WFF) opened its doors. The electric atmosphere was part celebration and part call to action as leaders, scientists, youth activists, and innovators gathered under the theme ‘Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future’.
