Profile – Bright Atiase

Bright Yaw Atiase is a dynamic and results-oriented expert in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) and Management Information Systems (MIS) with over 24 years of experience in driving data-informed decision-making for sustainable development. With a strong foundation in strategic project management, data analytics, and development policy analysis, Bright has been instrumental in shaping evidence-based policies at both national and international levels.

Currently serving as the Deputy Director (Chief Analyst) in M&E Division at Ghana’s National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Bright plays a pivotal role in ensuring that development policies are effectively monitored, evaluated, and adapted to meet evolving national priorities. He is also the lead coordinator of Component 3 of the SoCo project in Ghana, overseeing initiatives that enhance governance, accountability, and impact assessment.

Bright holds two Master of Science degrees—one in Monitoring and Evaluation and another in Information Technology—as well as a postgraduate certificate in Management Information Systems. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his completion of various specialized courses in M&E, research, statistics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and ICT, equipping him with the analytical depth and technical agility needed to excel in complex environments.

With a career spanning both the public and private sectors, Bright has worked with leading institutions such as AngloGold Ashanti and the Ghana Statistical Service, where he honed his skills in data systems management, performance measurement, and policy analysis. His leadership in M&E at the NDPC has been instrumental in enhancing data-driven governance, optimizing national development frameworks, and strengthening accountability mechanisms.

Bright is passionate about leveraging M&E as a transformative tool to drive policy improvements, optimize resource allocation, and enhance development outcomes. His work is deeply rooted in the belief that data when effectively harnessed, can drive sustainable change at national and sub-national levels.

As a member of multiple M&E professional bodies and an active participant in Lions Club International, Bright is committed to both professional excellence and community service. His diverse cultural experiences and extensive travel across Africa, Asia, America, and Europe have broadened his perspective, enabling him to approach development challenges with a global outlook and localized solutions.
