Dr. G K Dinesh (Govindaraj Kamalam Dinesh) is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at the College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, India, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. He was also a lead author of the UN IPCC report on CDR and CCUS (2027) and an External reviewer for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). He earned his PhD in Environmental Science from ICAR - Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, achieving a national-level 5th rank and receiving the IARI Ph.D. Senior Research Fellowship through a national entrance examination. Additionally, he completed diploma courses on climate change from the Oxford Climate School in the UK and is pursuing a degree in Environmental Law and Policy at the National Law University, Delhi. He is a recipient of the ‘Young Advantage Fellow’ award from the Institute of Biosciences, USA, and holds an honorary Research Fellow position at INTI International University, Malaysia. Dr. Dinesh completed his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture at Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India, and his Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. During his Master’s program, he received a fellowship for academic excellence through the Student Junior Research Fellowship under the TNAU-Private Industrial Agency Scheme (Sakthi Sugars Pvt. Ltd.). He conducted a long-term impact assessment study on the application of distillery effluent to soil and on Cassava and Jasmine crops. His Master’s thesis focused on the ecology of birds and insects in organic and inorganic paddy ecosystems. He has qualified for the ICAR and UGC National Eligibility Tests for Professorship multiple times. His PhD research on conservation agriculture and ecosystem services valuation was supported by the University Grants Commission, Government of India, through the UGC Junior Research Fellowship, and his work was recognized as significant by the Division of Environment Science, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, India. Dr. Dinesh’s research expertise encompasses carbon sequestration, ecosystem services, agroecology, climate-smart agriculture, farming systems, sustainable agriculture, crop simulation modeling, GHG emissions, agrobiodiversity, bioremediation, economic ornithology, waste recycling, and pollution control. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, earning accolades such as the ‘Best Oral Paper Presentation Award’, ‘Best M.Sc. Thesis Award’, and ‘Young Researcher Award for Excellence in Research’. He has authored over 45 peer-reviewed publications, 10+ edited/authored books, 15+ book chapters, and 70+ popular scientific articles in national and international journals and magazines. He has amassed over 450+ citations, an h-index of 12, and a cumulative impact factor exceeding 50. Beyond academia, Dr. Dinesh has translated numerous technical documents, including the Government of India's Environmental Impact Assessment Draft. Since June 2024, he has served as a Subject Expert Member on the Book Selection Committee for Public Libraries under the Government of Tamil Nadu. He is also an expert member of various organizations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization, Rome, and has experience as a journalist and editorial member for leading magazines. He is also serving as an Associate Editor at Springer Nature and ICAR Journals, the Editor-in-Chief of the Enlighten Agriculture Scientific Peer-reviewed Magazine, and an editorial board member of various national and international journals. He developed a curriculum for several courses on ecology, the environment, and organic agriculture. His mission is to work for the downtrodden, to bridge the gap between science and society, and to promote an inclusive and dialogic classroom environment. He is currently writing and editing books for prominent publishers such as CRC Press (UK), Nova Science (USA), and Bentham Science Publishers (UAE).
