In Benin, the policy evaluation system is currently undergoing a significant transformation. In this context, a crucial question that urgently arises is how to effectively obtain real-time data. Indeed, while many evaluation processes can draw on tools commonly used in foresight, such as risk registers, adaptive management loops, strategic questioning, and scenario planning these instruments, although valuable, do not fully substitute for rigorous and professional foresight practice. Consequently, it becomes essential to adopt a more integrated approach. Furthermore, the strong emphasis placed on shared ownership throughout the entire process from design to implementation emerges as a key strength, reinforcing both the relevance and sustainability of evaluation outcomes.

For me, TAPE is a very good and effective tool for assessing the ecological and economic sustainability of our farming systems. And I've already used it in several studies I did in Benin. However, I think that the implementation of the three phases of TAPE seems too complex and certain themes or concepts have no equivalent in developing countries. I suggest that researchers try to adapt it to the local realities and concepts of their country.
