Environmental sustainability is critically important, yet most evaluations do not include it unless it is a stated goal of the intervention. This session explored why environmental sustainability must be mainstreamed in all evaluations and what it would take to make that happen.
Topics covered included:
- Sustainability-inclusive approaches to applying the OECD-DAC criteria
- Building environmental sustainability into key evaluation questions
- Integrating evaluative judgments on environmental sustainability and equity using a two-dimensional rubric matrix
The session also shared practical tools, principles, and frameworks for evaluation teams, along with a preview of new tools Footprint Evaluation plans to develop for the food security, agriculture, and rural development sectors.
It was a valuable opportunity to learn from experts and strengthen evaluation practices.
