In my view, funding and resource constraints affect evaluation, learning, and accountability because these processes require adequate finances, skilled personnel, time, and reliable data systems. When resources are limited, field monitoring may be reduced, evaluations may be delayed, and staff may lack opportunities to learn from project experiences. Furthermore, accountability can be weakened when organizations cannot adequately verify results or report their activities to stakeholders.
“However, organizations can manage these challenges by prioritizing key evaluation activities, adopting cost-effective data collection methods, strengthening staff capacity, and involving beneficiaries in monitoring and feedback. I believe that evaluation, learning, and accountability should not be viewed as optional activities but as essential investments that help organizations improve performance, demonstrate results, and use limited resources more effectively.”
Key message: Limited funding may restrict what an organization can evaluate, but effective planning, learning, prioritization, and transparency can help ensure that available resources still produce meaningful results.
