The Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe Was established in terms of the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe Act [Chapter 24:14] with a specific mandate to mobilise debt and equity funds from both internal and external sources drawn mainly from private and public sector investor-institutions, promote economic development and growth through investment in infrastructure development in all sectors, develop institutional capacity in business undertakings and enterprises of all kinds in Zimbabwe through enhanced capacity-building and utilization; as well as to improve living standards and quality of life of Zimbabweans through the development of infrastructure for both urban and rural communities.
I was in charge of the infrastructure projects department, whose core activities were to assist in identifying development projects in the housing, health, education and tourism sectors, conducting pre-feasibility studies, doing due diligence and compiling appraisal documents to apply for funding, preparing the projects to bankability and readying them for resource mobilisation, preparing terms of reference for procurement of Consultants and Contractors for implementation supervision and construction, Implementation monitoring and preparing self evaluation reports.
I was then re-assigned to Head the Independent Evaluation Department. I am a Mechanical Engineer with qualifications in project management. I would like to join the course to build capacity for my new role of leading independent evaluation of the Bank's development interventions. I have over 15 years of project management experience in the energy and construction sectors.
