  1. WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Had been working in the Ethiopia health care system with different positions for more than 13 years.
  • Currently: working as Head, health center service desk; community engagement and primary health care lead executive office at ministry of health.
    • Roles and responsibilities are based on the following major national PHC initiatives:
      • Strengthen the implementation of community engagement in primary health care
      • Implementation of Ethiopia primary health care clinical guideline (EPHCG)
      • Implementation of Ethiopia health center reform implementation guideline (EHCRIG)
      • Implementation of Ethiopia primary health care alliance for quality (EPAQ) in PHCUs
      • Implementation of expanded emergency surgical services (OR) in OR block health centers 
      • Implementation of quality improvement (QI) and clinical communication skills (CCS) in PHCU
      • Strengthen infection prevention and control (IPC) activities in PHCUs
      • Implement and strengthen the good governance index (GGI) and community score card (CSC) 
      • Strengthen public health emergency (PHEM), community-based surveillance (CBS) and case management activities in primary health care units.
      • Expand and strengthen the implementation of urban primary health care reform (UPHC) or family health team (FHT) in urban cities and towns. 
  • During conflict time in Ethiopia: Member of the national task force on conflict related health facilities damage assessment and restoration team. Actively engaged in development of emergency preparedness and response plan (EPRP) documents, Assessment checklists, costing, intervention, progress updates, meetings, and project proposals.
  • During COVID-19 pandemic: Member of the national COVID-19 response TWG as Gambella regional support team lead in the regional Public Health Emergency operation center (PHEOC). Lead and coordinate 8 major sections: 1. coordination and planning, 2. Epi-surveillance, 3. laboratory, 4. case management, 5. risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), 6. Infection prevention and control (IPC), 7. Point of entries (POE) and 8. Logistics management. During the pandemic lead the regional “ComBAT” campaign which was also the national part focus on massive surveillance, active case search, community engagements, laboratory testing and case management activities.
  • Award from H.E Dr Lia Tadesse (Minister, MOH) entitled “recognition for your outstanding contribution in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and continued provisional of essential health services.”
  • 2016 – 2022: worked at Federal ministry of health (FMOH); Health extension program & primary health care directorate/HEP & PHC/ as Public Health professional specialist expert.
  • Experience of conducting different national surveys, project specific assessments and capacity building trainings (as a team lead, supervisor, and expert) with different development partners.
  • Experience of community and event-based surveillance (CEBS) through integration to the health extension program in collaboration with EPHI, PHEM team.
  • Had experience of different national document preparations, validations, capacity building trainings (Including master TOT and TOT), mentoring, coaching, supportive supervision, performance reviews, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Jul, 2016- Sep, 2016: worked in Addis Ababa city administration health bureau; Gulele sub city health office as HIV/AIDS prevention & control /HAPCO/ coordinator and lead 5 staffs.
  • Sep, 2013- Jun, 2016: worked in Addis Ababa city administration health bureau; Gulele Sub City Hidassie health center as Outpatient & emergency departments clinician, Matron & ART focal as well as Medical Director of the health center on consecutive period of times and lead 150 staff during the position of medical director.
  • Oct, 2009- Aug, 2013: worked in Amhara regional health bureau; south wollo zone Argoba special woreda at Medina health center as a clinician and PHEM focal.
