Manoj Yadav is a seasoned international development professional with over 15 years of expertise in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and sustainability. Since March 2024, he has been working as an independent consultant and researcher, following 11 years at GIZ, the German government’s bilateral cooperation agency, where he served as Senior Advisor - Climate Change.
In his independent practice, Manoj collaborates with leading organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ernst & Young (EY), MicroSave Consulting (MSC), and the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF). His professional engagements span diverse areas, including climate finance, green taxonomy, carbon credits, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His recent projects include developing carbon credit proposal for the TATA Group, conducting a regional climate finance landscape study for the World Bank, developing a Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) Toolkit for MSMEs across Asia and Africa, and preparing a readiness proposal for the South Korea based Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Manoj has a proven track record of collaboration with international organizations, ministries, state departments, academia, and private sector institutions across India, Germany, Switzerland, and Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. His earlier role at Ujjivan Bank enriched his experience in financial inclusion, where he managed the microfinance and microinsurance portfolio of over 1.2 million clients.
A frequent speaker and guest lecturer, Manoj has shared his sustainability, ESG, and climate finance expertise at prestigious forums, including Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). He has also represented India at global forums, such as COP23 in Germany, on climate risk financing and resilience strategies.
Alongside his consulting work, Manoj is pursuing a part-time PhD in Business Sustainability at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML), focusing on ESG and Climate Finance. He holds a Master of Public Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE), awarded under the Commonwealth Scholarship, and an MBA in Rural Management from Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB).
