Abdul Hamid Rhametalla has been active for over three decades in the development sector. Starting out as an agricultural extension service provider supporting farmers, pastoralists, and fishers on the ground, he then proceeded to take on more senior advisory roles for the government and a number of key donors, UN and NGOs active in Sudan. His extensive experience spans over a vast portfolio of projects across multiple and diverse sectors including providing technical assistance and support at policy and strategy level for the agricultural and related financial institutions e.g., Agricultural Banks, microfinance, insurance and agricultural value chain actors’ analysis, markets, challenges, and innovations. Abdul Hamid has extensive experience in supporting food security, nutrition, and rural livelihood initiatives across all States of Sudan and South Sudan as well as more relief-oriented work including working with IDPs and migrants. Abdul Hamid is very familiar with the programme cycle approach and have extensive experience in conducting evaluations at different level for various stakeholders (donors, UN, NGO, governments and private sector institutions).
