Currently developing the Monitoring and Evaluation plan of the FAOs GEF7 project in the Eastern and Western Highlands Provinces;

Organise and develop mission requests for government counterparts to project sites;

Conducted Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (METT) assessments for several protected areas in EHP and WHP; and

Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts to project sites.

Co-Director - R&C Eco-Marine Services (March 2022 – Oct 2023)
Environment Monitoring for Conservation & Environment Protection Authority (CEPA) 26th June – 28th July 2023

Designed and trained UPNG and PAU student volunteers on how to conduct a socioeconomic household interview;

Carried out the interviews on Tatana Island to understand the livelihood of people there in relation to their marine usage since post-construction of the Motukea International wharf;

Conducted an ecological monitoring survey of mangrove forest, seagrass meadows and coral reef sites around the Moukea International Terminal for Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA);
Results from this environmental audit allowed CEPA to produce an Operational Permit to the Motukea International Port.
Exxon Mobil’s Feasibility Study on Inshore Fish Aggregating Device (IFAD) implementation and other fisheries programs. October 2022 – January 2023
The feasibility study was conducted at the LNG impact villages of Lealea, Papa, Boera and Porebada in Caution Bay, Central Province and the work that I did was:

Designed and carried out a socioeconomic and fisher survey;

Designed and conducted biophysical surveys which included coral reef and mangrove assessments for rehabilitation;

Recruited and trained university graduates on how to conduct interviews and assess coral reefs and mangrove health; and

Also managed the project funds.
Results from this feasibility study were presented to the EMPNG team at its headquarters.

Field Assistant (Part Time) – Sustainable Pacific Aquaculture Development (PacAqua) Project March 2020 – June 2021
Assisted project consultant in carrying out extension work on Tilapia Cage Farmers at Sirinumu Dam, Central Province for 50 days (5 field visits). Types of extension work performed are:

conducted and analysed data of aquaculture production, aquaculture market, and socioeconomic surveys carried out to find out the current status of the tilapia farmers

facilitated Project Cycle Management (PCM) exercise whereby farmers drew problem trees and then identified solutions to their constraints

facilitated skills and knowledge sharing sessions between farmers whereby highly skilled farmers discussed and demonstrated certain aquaculture skills such as cage/pond construction and cleaning; calculating daily feed ration; sampling and collecting tilapia fries and eggs; and record keeping to less skilled farmers

taking minutes of meetings held and keeping a daily work dairy

Creating activity work plan for each month
I have also assisted the consultant in report writing of the five field visits and overall final report of the project. The reports have been submitted to the Aquaculture Unit of the National Fisheries Authority (NFA) and to the projects’ delivery partner – The Pacific Community (SPC).

Highlands Region Coordinator (Acting) - Coastal Fisheries Development Agencies (CFDA) August 2016– May 2018

Monitored and evaluated small fish farming projects based in the Highlands Region. Closed off one successful mini aquaculture project in Western Highlands Province. This community project received funding from CFDA to cement its fishponds and purchase PVC pipes to provide constant water supply from a main source to the ponds which at the same time provided water for the surrounding community. The project was completed within its proposed budget and timeframe.

Project Officer- Coastal Fisheries Development Agency (CFDA) August 2013 – May 2018

This involved research for project design, project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation of projects. Also designed marine surveys and assisted in collecting socioeconomic data for CFDAs’ Provincial Profiling program. The marine surveys that were designed allowed for collection of marine data such as identifying butterfly fish as an indicator for coral reef health. Data was collected in various reefs in Morobe and West New Britain Provinces respectively alongside the socioeconomic surveys. All data was uploaded into the CFDA survey systems for analysing and reporting.

Part of the CFDA team that conducted Provincial Profiling Surveys in West New Britain Province which involved socioeconomic surveys and biophysical (marine/mangrove) surveys.

Kavieng Lagoon Biodiversity Survey - Led a small dredging team that did hand dredging at different depths of different bottom/benthic types around the Lagoon.

Graduate Trainee- Coastal Fisheries Development Agency (CFDA) October 2012 – August 2013

This involved job rotations within the three different divisions of CFDA i.e. Extension and Liaison, Economics and Planning and Finance and Administration divisions. The tasks carried out were basic office skills such as answering phone calls and front desk reception duties, taking meeting minutes, printing, photocopying, binding and filing. Job rotation also included HR duties such as being involved in the recruitment process; designing survey questionnaires; appraising project proposals and writing recommendations for their funding.

Participated in the Marine Component of the 2012-2013 Papua New Guinea Biodiversity Expedition in Madang Province where I observed and assisted
international marine scientists in various marine biodata collection such as
sieving of dredged benthic seafloor, using microscope to collect minute sea animals to be sorted into their major groups, doing night dives along the shores to collect foraging night marine animals and live trapping of crabs and other crustaceans.
