I am a plant Physiologist, Biotechnologist and a practicing research scientist with over 30 Years of experience in rural development practice, agricultural research, academic research and in forest molecular genetics. Plant breeding, genetics, crop physiology, plant tissue culture, genomics and genetic resources management are among the fields I have actively worked and published on. Currently, I manage broad-based agricultural research programme at the South African Agricultural Research Council as a Principal Researcher and Research Team Manager of a team made up of various research units such as potato breeding, sweet potato breeding, cassava breeding, onion, garlic and taro breeding, genomic support team, genetic resources management and client support team, field research management team, and office and project management team totaling more than 100 (including postgraduate students and postdocs). I have worked in almost all sectors of employment (Government, NGO, Private sector, Public sector, Academia and Science council). I am a published scientist, mentor and supervisor of postgraduate students with a Google Scholar h-index of 29.
