European Union Delegation , Sri Lanka

Programme Manager

I began my professional career as a researcher in Sri Lanka’s floriculture industry, focusing on European and Far Eastern markets. Over five years, I was engaged in research and development activities, including pioneering non-conventional breeding methods to develop novel floriculture varieties, contributing to innovation and sectoral advancement.

Building on this technical foundation, I transitioned into project and programme management, working closely with government institutions and international funding organizations. A significant milestone in my career was my contribution to the National Agriculture Development Program (2003–2014), where I played a key role in strategic planning, coordination, and implementation, supporting national-level agricultural development objectives.

Over more than two decades, my professional trajectory has evolved through multidisciplinary training and hands-on experience across agriculture, rural development, and development cooperation. My work has consistently emphasized results, accountability, learning, and sustainability, with increasing engagement in monitoring, evaluation, and evidence-informed decision-making.

Since October 2015, I have been coordinating multi-sector donor-funded programmes at the EU Delegation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. These initiatives span agriculture, food and nutrition security, local governance, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), sustainable consumption and production, housing, and water sectors. My role involves programme oversight, performance monitoring, results reporting, and close collaboration with implementing partners and national stakeholders.

Across these roles, I have remained committed to using evaluation, monitoring, and learning as tools for improving development effectiveness, fostering institutional capacity, and supporting sustainable and inclusive development outcomes in Sri Lanka.
