Seeds of Sustainability:

This session examined the application of Outcome Harvesting in evaluating the Circular Food Systems for Rwanda project. It addressed the challenges and successes encountered in measuring long-term and indirect impacts within circular food systems and climate-resilience programming. The session highlighted key lessons generated through the Outcome Harvesting process, including insights on sustainability. It also showcased best practices and the limitations associated with using this approach. An overview of the session’s thematic focus was provided.

Objectives

The session explored practical and adaptive approaches for measuring impact in circular and climate-resilience initiatives. Drawing on the Circular Food Systems for Rwanda (CIRF) project, funded by the IKEA Foundation, facilitators illustrated how participatory methods particularly Outcome Harvesting (OH) had revealed system-level, indirect, and behavioural outcomes. The session combined presentations, real-time engagement, and reflections on evaluation design in complex environments.
