Research, programmes and evaluations in the land sector: trends and emerging lessons Issued on 2026 by Land Facility Decision Support Unit (DSU)

This research paper has been commissioned through the Land Facility Decision Support Unit (DSU) to synthesise both relevant academic literature and evaluation reports of land programmes, covering the evaluative experience of the land sector over the past decade. The study analyses evaluation approaches across a range of land programmes and donors to draw out relevant lessons for evaluating interventions that support land governance reform. The objective of the research is to draw out relevant lessons for the Land Facility and the land evaluation community more broadly, with a specific focus on what is relevant for international development programming that aims to contribute to land governance reform.
